If you have ever walked down the street or sat on a bus and had many people around you, who are also sitting there or walking you might have noticed that you rarely ever see these people smiling. These people could have everything they could ever dream of, the money and the cars yet you walk by them and they look like they are always unhappy. Most of you will probably agree and if you don’t, go onto a busy street and look for yourself. Why is this? What is keeping them from putting that smile on their face. I’ve come to realize that it isn’t your possessions that are going to make you happy. No matter how much money, fancy cars or gadgets you have it won’t change your level of happiness. You might say Oh well what about those people who win the lottery? Are you telling me they aren’t happy? That’s a good question, you see when people win the lottery or suddenly get rich their level of happiness may go from a 4/10 all the way up to a 9 or 10/10 and sure they are happy for a month…maybe two but after a while their level of happiness will gradually go back down to that 4/10, so yes, what I’m saying is that money won’t buy you happiness and no matter how much of it you have it’s not that, that will make you happy.
So are you telling me I’ll be more happy if I’m poor? No, it the people you hang around with, how you take care of yourself and what sort of things you are letting into you brain. I heard once that you are always sinking down to the level that the people you are hanging around with are at. Maybe not right away but if you continue to hang around those people, eventually both of your futures will lead similar paths.
Taking care of yourself is key. Instead of focusing and devoting yourself to your job, spend some of that energy taking care of your body, your health because that is where your happiness begins. Next look at who you hang around with. This one is trickier I find because many people may live in a home with negative relatives who are always feeding them negative feedback. My advice to you is to ignore it. Don’t let it get to you, take a look at the person giving you all the negativity and think about how happy they are and not just the face they put on. If you start taking care of yourself and hang around positive people who care for you. This is one step closer to reaching a happier state.
